The 2004 D100 was a resounding success with some 220 riders participating. The weather was perfect and there were no injurys. All roads along the 100-mile route were swept by State, County, and City road maintenance departments. With all right turns, there were no incidents with traffic. Rest stops were fully equipped and did super jobs tending the riders needs. Again, the food/water stop in Marvel was marvelous! The sag wagons provided assistance to many riders with mechanical problems, or just plain tired riders. The course lived up to its reputation as FAST: many riders recorded their personal best times.
But there remains room for improvement. In 2005, we will have an excellent food and water station at the Finish in Santa Rita Park. While we are not calling it a "lunch", there will be plenty of food for riders. At the Start, we will set up additional portable toilets to avoid lines. Again, we will provide coffee and water for riders before the start. The large digital clock will be running again, and we will assist riders to record their times in the official ledger which will be posted on the website.
